Getting Here

Directions to C/CGEU at the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis, New York University, 4th Floor of 20 Cooper Square in New York City. You will need valid photo-ID to enter 20 Cooper Square.

Driving and Parking – Cars

Drivers in Manhattan contend with congestion, construction and a competitive driving etiquette most of which can be avoided by taking mass transit. Parking is scarce and costly near 20 Cooper Square. Try the garage on Broadway at Astor Place.

From New York City - Subways

Take the 6 train to Astor Place or the R,W train to 8th Street and walk a bit east on Astor Place or 8th Street to Cooper Square, then south.
Or take the B,D,F,V to Broadway/Lafay- ette, walk north on Lafayette, then turn right on 4th Street and left on Bowery/ Cooper Square.

From Northeast Corridor - Trains

If you are coming from locations in the northeast, consider riding Amtrak, MetroNorth or the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to reduce carbon emissions. Amtrak and LIRR serve New York Penn Station with transfer available to the 1,2,3 and A,C,E subway lines. From Penn Station, take the A,C, or E to West 4th and transfer to the B,D,F, or V downtown to Broadway/Lafayette. MetroNorth serves Grand Central Station with transfer available to the downtown 6 train to Astor Place.

From very far - Planes

Fly in to JFK, LaGuardia (LGA), or Newark (EWR) International Airports. Taxis are available at all airports. We encourage you to consider mass transit.
  • From JFK take the AirTrain ($5) to Station D - Jamaica then transfer to a Penn Station bound Long Island Railroad Train ($10 off peak -$12 rush hour). From Penn Station take the A,C,E subway downtown to W 4th Street and transfer to the F or V train downtown to Broadway/Lafayette.
  • From LaGuardia (LGA) take the M60 New York city bus to 125th Street and Lexington Avenue. Then take the downtown 6 train to Bleecker street. You will need exactly $2 or a Metrocard.
  • From Newark, take the AirTrain Newark to Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station. Transfer to either a New York Penn Station bound NJTransit train OR a New York Penn Station bound Amtrak train. Your AirTrain Newark card is good for both your ride on the AirTrain and your ride on NJTransit OR Amtrak. Note: New Jersey Penn Station is not New York Penn Station.
  • From JFK, LaGuardia or Newark take a shuttle bus to Manhattan - Newark Liberty Express from Newark; New York Airport Express from JFK and LaGuardia - stopping at Penn Station, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and Grand Central. From Grand Central, take the 6 down to Astor Place.
